Who I am
My name is Zac Neel, and I am a Digital Content Producer for NBC 16 and KVAL News in Eugene, Oregon. I recently graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Journalism. I grew up with a passion for sports, and a love for writing, so naturally, I merged those two into a career as a sports journalist. While in school, I worked for The Register Guard, covering prep sports, as well as track and field. I also wrote for KVAL.com, covering the Oregon Ducks football and basketball teams, as well as baseball, softball and track and field. In the past couple of years, I have journeyed into the freelance journalism world, covering track and field meets at Hayward Field including the U.S. Olympic trials, NCAA Track & Field Championships, USATF Outdoor championships, and several other meets. As a result of this coverage, I have had articles published in the Miami Herald, Runner's World, the Arizona Republic, and the Upstate New York.
When I am not covering/watching some type of sporting event (which I'll admit, is rare), I enjoy creative writing and exploring the great Northwest. I played three sports in high school and still enjoy pick-up basketball or sandlot baseball on the weekends.
On the surface, I am your average hard-working journalist, and like everyone, I have a story. My story, however, is anything but average. Check it out.
